Improv for Therapists, Level 1

For clinicians and counselors.

This class teaches mental health professionals how to add improv games, exercises, and practices into Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Group Therapy or Individual Therapy sessions.

We welcome all levels of clinicians. The class is great for therapists who want to learn how improv can be further engaged in their work as a therapist for movement, drama, recovery, groups, and even individuals.

We will leave time to process how the communication techniques learned in these games and exercises have been applied to Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Group Therapy, Couples Therapy, and Individual Therapy.

All classes are held online using Zoom.

Improv for Therapists, Level 2

For clinicians, counselors and interns who have completed Level 1.

We put together an 8-week class to cover topics we do not cover in the Level 1 class.

This is the second level of Improv Therapy Group training for clinicians and mental health professionals.

For those of you that have taken the 8-week Improv For Therapists class with Improv Therapy Group, this is another great chance to network and meet one another.  You are all so awesome and we think one big ensemble sounds kinda cool.

All classes are held online using Zoom.

Improv for Therapists – Advanced

For for clinicians, counselors and interns who have completed Level 1.

We put together an 8-week class to deep dive into the concepts covered in Level 1 and Level 2 classes.

In this advanced-level class we take a deeper dive into the most popular modules. We also discuss improv for specific populations of people. And we work together on client explorations.

For those of you that have taken our Level 1 or Level 2 classes, this is another great chance to network and meet one another and take your training to the next level.

Improv for Gifted Adults

Come unmasked. Discover yourself in community and in play. Transform perfectionism through spontaneity. Transcend social defenses through trust in your actual peers.

Improv is a unique and hilariously effective avenue for gifted self-development. It’s a place for gifted people to show up openly – laughing together and supporting each other.

Gordon Smith of Gifted and Growing, and Lisa Bany of Improv Therapy Group have collaborated to develop a curriculum focused on the needs of gifted adults.

All classes are held online using ZOOM.

Improv for Clergy: Level 1

This course is designed to provide you with a safe space to engage in self-care and well-being with other ministers. These troubled times have generated additional stress for clergy members, and there is little opportunity for relief.

Improv games have their roots in social work, as far back as the 1930s. The exercises make us laugh but the sense of community, empathy, and trust they build among participants is profound.

All classes are held online using ZOOM.

Improv for Clergy: Level 2

This next-level Improv for Clergy class provides a deepening and broadening of your core improv skills learned in Improv For Clergy Level 1. As improvisers, you will expand your skills by exploring new games and exercises, as well as topics like:

  • Working with small groups of congregants and parishioners
  • Working with church and synagogue staff
  • Working with the fundraising and special interest committees
  • Working with youth groups

All classes are held online using ZOOM.

In addition to our regularly scheduled 8 week classes, we also have intensives and workshops.
